Eczema
The word 'eczema' is derived from the Greek meaning "to boil over" or to "break out." It is synonymous with dermatitis (i.e. inflammation of the epidermis, the outer layer of the skin). The term "eczema" is used to describe a wide range of persistent skin conditions - there are many different type of eczema, for example, atopic eczema.
Eczema can present itself in the form of dryness and recurring skin rashes, which are characterized by one or more of the following symptoms: redness, skin oedema (swelling), itching and dryness, crusting, flaking, blistering, cracking, oozing, or bleeding.
